This is a built B16A2 engine that is experiencing occasional overheating and loss of coolant from the system. Compression numbers were fine across the board. Leakdown numbers are actually really good, but giving a longer time period on each cylinder finally revealed a small leakage on cylinder #2.

  • ah man I had one that was worse. Customer was complaining about his heater erratically going from hot to cold and the coolant temp gauge going erratic. vehicle had no other symptoms. no runs rough or any misfires. Damn thing passed a cooling system pressure test and compression tests. I didn't find the problem until I used a leakdown tester at 100 psi. cylinder had less than 5% leakdown but if you wait for about 5 minutes it eventually start forcing air out the radiator. Small crack in the head

  • What is the correct "when new" PSi reading for the b16a2?

I did the test last year on my b16a2 stock motor and it read 135 130 130 135 or there about, That seems really low but they are all relative to each other which ive been told is the main thing to watch out for?
