  • i'm a proponent of correct nomenclature, as use of the fictitious word "marij/huana" perpetuates the mess we're in, in the first place. so far the earliest substantial etymology is the word kaneh-bosm/kannebos, from hebrew/aramaic roots.... if you do your research, you will see that the "m" word was created by H.J. Anslinger from the Maria Y Juana Mexican brand cigarettes. before that it was called hemp or cannabis and no one cared. media and propaganda are EVIL.

  • right on. i can't believe that it was only two years ago that i used the M word.... saying Cannabis is natural to me now and the thought of saying the misnomer is like a racial epithet!:^D i thought it sounded dirty way before i ever touched cannabis and it remains that way today!!!!

  • @teasnax ... You hit it on the head ... now that people are starting to talk about it in serious circles it needs some re branding ... It shouldn't be that hard to do socially as long as we stick to are guns ... the fact is that the m word is a pretty racist word and as long as we commit to telling that to people and CONSISTENTLY calling it cannibus, within a couple decades when it comes time for the voting to legalize ... we'll be talking about it in a whole different way

  • Cool, I didn't know that. I heard that the Samoans were originally from Japan, were the polynesians Japanese too?

  • pacific coast american tribe had contact with polynesian ppl, some are known to be geneticly polynesian, trade existed since man was first on the continent

  • I'm pretty sure marijuana has spread west, not east. Its most ancient use is china, then the middle east, then africa those are facts. I'm pretty sure it came from mexico and the caribean into the U.S., how it got to mexico/caribean I don't know for sure.

  • just doing what i can, friend:^)

  • thanks!

  • the Chinese word for cannibus is (or sounds like) ma wang. this i heard from gnositc media podcast and is suposed to be the most ancient use of the any thing that sound like marijuana. the useage may be due to asian/polynisian influences in indiginous America from ancient times.
