Hi Jared and all people ..i have canon 550D and in comparison to L versions from canon, this sigma is only litle bit behind ..definitely better than kit lenses and ultra zooms like 18-200 and crap. I am very happy with it ..i took some journalistic pictures and newspapers bougt them ..i was shooting birds on fly and the focus worked perfect smooth..definitelly happy that it was my first telephoto lens and it is still doing its job very well!!

@JaredPolin Hey Jared, what do you think would be my better option. I currently have a Nikon D70 with a 50mm 1.8 AF (No internal focusing motor). Should I upgrade to a D5100 and buy a 50mm 1.8 AF-S (with the internal focusing) or should I buy this Sigma 70-200?

Hey Jarid, so I know you don't like to shoot at higher ISOs for the D3000. What are your thoughts on shooting high ISO with the D7000? What is the highest you'll go?

I own one of these and it's a good lens, BUT you know a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR2 will always be better. This is half the price though so it isn't a fair comparison. So if you can't afford the Nikon lens, this will do to complete the cheap man's trinity. That's what I did.
Basically it all comes down to the need for VR. If you don't need it, this is a no brainer. Sure there's probably some difference in AF performance, bokeh and sharpness as well, but still.

Who WASN'T stoned in this video? love the review though haha
@Jared In all your years as a pro photographer you never picked up a Tamron 70-200 f2.8 and looked at it? Aren't you even curious? There are exactly three manufacturers putting out a 70-200 f2.8 AF with a Nikon mount (arguably the most important lens a pro can have). They are Nikon, Sigma and Tamron. Everyone knows Nikon is hands down the best. That leaves only two choices for the budget minded. I was simply curious to know your thoughts.
Btw I didn't mean to upset you. I Just wasn't sure wh

@sgav8r Im not upset just wanted to answer the question about being in Sigmas pocket.
I have never picked up one of those lenses to use in my own personal bag. I own all Nikon glass for my FX Cameras. This is what I recommend, I recommend the nikon or canon glass if you can afford it or your a pro shooting on FX cameras. If you are just starting out and on a cropped sensor I fully recommend the third party lenses that are 2.8s or better for the savings. They have also gotten much better.

I've read thru the comments and I've seen a lot of people ask one particular question that's gone unanswered. I asked it too on the website and never received a reply. Question: Between the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 which would YOU (Jared) recommend/prefer and why? Since no one's received an answer it could mean that that question is to be avoided. Considering Jared's relationship with Sigma perhaps that's answer enough.

@sgav8r thanks for your comment. First off I have answered this many times via e mail and in other places people have asked. I have never used the tamron because tamron has never sent me one.
Also I would appreciate you not reading into things and creating assumptions like I am avoiding the question. It seems like your trying to say that because sigma sends me lenses to test out I cant say a bad word. They dont pay me or advertise on my site. They make plenty of lenses I would never use.
