WTF. Magnus effect.

well its a good think you finally figured out its spinning because of the rotation of the ball causing friction on the felt therefore, moving it......FANTASTIC hypothesis

@Munks1320 Thank you Munks,I love his stroke, kind of unorthodox to what you see now days,he was something special, what was his highest run in 3 cushion?can you find it?How cool would it have been to be a student of his?

@NAMTRIP yeah, he's one for the ages. But, as you say, i guess there just isnt much stuff on him floating around. He really was so "in tune" with the game. I think there are some vids of him, albeit at an older-age, on you tube. his cueball control was almost unbelievable. If you come across any links, please share...

@Munks1320 Other than my mentor,SSG.Lovell,in the Army, your the only other person Ive ever heard make a reference to the great Willie Hoppe.Ive read and tried to find as much as I could on him,not a whole lot is out there,Im still running a few leads. From what Ive seen,Hoppe was awesome, they called him the old maestro, sometimes,he was a legendary billiard God.

"Zigzag shot" / "Magnus effect" my arse :) lol
It's a simple power masse using insdie english and a little extra cue power to force into the rail with alot of spin so that when the snowball gets so far from the rail, the remaining spin will take hold on the cloth and make the snowball hook back in towards the rail :)
Nice video and it's always good to see Efren passing on some of his knowledge and expertise to more everyday player who wish to play better and enjoy the sport of pool :)

Thanks for the Magnus effect education! I was unaware of that term. But I see that it applies to spheres spinning in a fluid (including air) . So I'm thinking the action of the cue ball in this case is really caused by friction against the cloth and not high/low pressures as with Magnus effect.
