January 2, 1984. This video begins with Miami's Jeff Davis missing a 43 yard field goal that would have given the Canes a 10 point lead and likely wrapped up the national championship. Instead, unbeaten and top ranked Nebraska, a 12 point favorite, took over at its own 26 with 1:47 remaining, trailing 31-24.

Note the Orange Bowl committee members applauding when Irving Fryar dropped the perfectly thrown pass from Turner Gill.
