  • Should you only flex and extend at your first few C disks and keep a relatively straight spine during these exercises or can you sequentially recruit different neck muscles the further you flex or extend? Meaning can you sink your head in a bit, posture up, than extend/hyperextend etc. and vice-versa for anterior movement. And what is your rationale behind that?

  • @DJahop,

Great Question. Don't Over Think This. Throw On A Neck Harness And Use A Weight That Is "Light". Like Any Exercise Or Movement, The Goal Is To Train Through A Full Range Of Motion And Complete The Acquired Amount Of Reps/Sets Without Screwing Yourself Up. Keep It Comfortable. If You Can Flex And Extend Your Neck With A Light Weight, Through A Full Range -Great. If You Are Limited, Then Work Within Your Limits.

  • @DJahop,

    Part 2 To Your Question:

Check Our "WALL WALKS NECK BRIDGE" Video Or Do A YouTube Search On D-1 Wrestlers Performing Neck Bridges. You Will Be Amazed What A Strong Neck And Spine Is Capable Of. Keep In Mind, Our Gym Prepares Fighters To Fight. They Get Punched In The Head, Neck Cranked An Constricted On A Daily Basis. Thanks Again.

  • Excellent video, I could see your rear neck muscles working hard, also you are the first one i've seen turn the harness around for the front. Could you lay length ways on the bench for the front instead of at the side?

  • @perfectjohnboy,

Thank You! Just To Keep Perspective, Everyone Here At The YESS TRAINING Barbell Club Are Fighters (Boxing,Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Kick Boxing, MMA, Etc.) And Not Neck Harness Heroes. We Program Neck Training To Deal With Impact. A Weak Neck In Fighting Is A Whole Other Topic, But Even If You Don't Fight You Should Train Your Neck. In All Directions. Absolutely! You Can Lay How Ever You Want On A Bench (Or Anything) As Long As You Can Extend & Flex The Neck. Thanks Again.

  • How many sets do you do? i just bought a harness and dont want to go at it uneducated.

  • @steve4presedint, A short term goal to shoot for with the neck harness would be 50 reps total, with a weight that you can handle, with every neck movement. You can never go wrong starting with a weight that is too light. You can always add weight on after you get a feel for it and accomplish the total amount of reps. It's all about getting work in, starting light, working your way up over time. Get it in and best of luck.

  • @wickiezulu Try Ironminds neck harness or Spud.inc harness @ elitFTS

I own the ironmind harness and its comfortable and will hold more weight than any other harness of its type on the market.

    Good luck

  • I am considering getting a Head / Neck Harness and while I am not planning on going crazy with the weights, can anyone recommend a Head / Neck Harness with a very high breaking point / strain?
