Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes - 'The Illustrious Client'

I have always loved this episode. There is something even more special (than usual) about our beloved Jeremy, in so many of the 'Casebook' series. With that in mind, here is a little poem I wrote for our man;

in my darkest hours
your light shines on me
a faint glimpse I catch
in the flickering celluloid

the gift you gave and that you give
brings hope into this life
knowing eyes that see all truths
I need not speak a word

in your gaze I see forever
I see eternity
I see... you

Who else here cannot stand to watch dear Jeremy (even though it is simply the part he is playing), take a beating at the hands of such swine? Grrrrr!

However, once again good triumphs over evil, and I believe that is also part of the legacy that Jeremy Brett the man left with us. Thank you, Jeremy!

I love this episode (and tribute) for so many reasons. Firstly Holmes is a far more caring man in this story than others. He is very protective of kitty and clearly feels very deeply for her pain. Second, we see waston being far more like holmes than ever.He studys material, play acts and of course hes incrediably brave. I know waston was all ready all these things. But in this episode he seemed 2 come in 2 his own.

Princessdianaislove, I totally agree. Jeremy really brings more warmth to Holmes in this one, which I adore. :) I very much enjoy Holmes & Kitty, and how they relate to each other. It is one of my fave eps.

"Why Kitty? Why?" I always liked that part of the story. Sherlock is unusually kind and concerning with Kitty for some reason.Possibly because he realizes how exceptional and beautiful she is. It's sweet how Holmes and Kitty interact with one another. A gentleman to the last, Sherlock is.

I saw this episode recently on ITV (they have been showing a large number). It is one of the very best, it has it all and of course the brilliant acting of the one and only Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes (and Hardwicke of course as Watson). Can't imagine anyone ever bettering or even equalling Brett as Holmes.
