I've decided to start making these sort of visual playlists, because I think they're pretty fun. I'm picking my favorite songs from birp.fm's monthly playlist and creating a little music world for them to live in, in After Effects. Birp.fm puts out an awesome indie rock playlist every month, usually with well over 100 song on each playlist, and they feature tons of amazing bands that I've usually never even heard of. Every month I try to go through the playlist and find the ones I really love, which can take quite a while, so I decided to share them with you guys, and hopefully you can discover some new bands. :)

This is from the 2011 May playlist, so forgive me that these songs might seem a couple months outdated now, I'm planning on catching up to the present (well kind of...it usually takes me a month to really focus and get through the whole playlist, haha), and have already made a playlist from the June birp, and am finishing making one for July, now I just need to make them visual playlists.

This video was created completely in Adobe After Effects, and took somewhere a little under 20 hours to complete. Thank you Andrew Kramer for teaching me basically everything I know about After Effects, and for you're awesome Reflection plug-in that I used almost everywhere in this video, and which saved me countless hours of work, haha.

Let me know what you guys think! I'm planning on making more of these, and they should go much faster now that I have everything setup in After Effects.

Now everyone check out birp.fm, and support some artists!

Here's the song list again:

"All the Right Things" -- Son Lux
"Blackeye" -- Love Inks
"Climbing Walls" -- Strange Talk
"Drops" -- Jookabox
"If I Keep on Loving You" -- Let's Wrestle
"Months" -- The Middle East
"Shoot the Water" --- Austra
"Oh Annie" --- The Morning Benders
"Sick Days" --- Yourself & The Air
"Reaching Out" --- German Error Message
"Simple Math" --- Manchester Orchestra
"Skeleton Key" --- Strange Powers
"Sweetness" --- Pearl and the Beard
"Take Me Home" --- Germany Germany
"Take My Train" --- Man the Hunter
"Wait" --- Priory
"X-Ray" --- Xylos
"Yours Forever" --- The Generationals

I do not own the rights to any of the music, artwork, or photos. Credit goes to birp.fm for their awesome playlists, from which I'm making my playlists.

NOTE: "Shoot the Water" by Austra was originally in this playlist, but thanks to WMG, the video became blocked in the US when I uploaded. I had to spend half the day figuring out which song was causing the problem, and then fixing it in After Effects and re-exporting.

Also "WDFFIL" by Soundcheck (FYI don't ever pick Soundcheck as a band name, there's already been at least 5 or 6 of them) was going to be on this playlist, but I seriously couldn't find any substantial artwork or band photos of them to include in the video. They sound like such a 50s-60s band and after looking into it, I think they might have actually been a 50s to 60s band! Which might explain why I couldn't find anything for them. Someone fill me in if I'm way off here.
