This is a video on how to change you mac address on iphone/itouch running ios4
this is for network testing purposes only and should not be used to hack networks or cover up trails your mac address would leave behind.

Things you will need (also see side bar for list)

Jailbroken ios4
cydia

network-cmds
and a ssh program like winscp (pc)

the commands used were

sorry about the end where it washed out
all i said was your mac address will reset after a repring or reboot

  • what's the repository to get Network - cmds?

  • @heistlaan same thing happened to me

  • READ THE REQUIREMENTS YOU IDIOTS.

to use ifconfig you need to download the cydia package network-cmds

  • ok, got that working, but now I typ "ifconfig en0 ether (mac adress)"

then return, and then ifconfig and my mac adress doesn't changes??

  • -sh: line 6: ifconfig: config not found

    HELP ME PLS.

  • This doesn't work at all... or if it did only on very old iOS 4. This is the method used in iOS 3.1.3 though. In iOS 4 with terminal or with SSH the ether command will execute but the mac address just stays unchanged. If you got ifconfig not found it's because you didn't install the package network-cmds

  • ifconfig not found.......

  • Also, to change it on the go, download Mobile Terminal from Cydia, and save the cmd line "en0 ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" (change the last 2 numbers each time u want a new one)

  • Wow, I made the same tutorial 2 weeks ago... :\

Not saying you can't make this, but why make another, with a different OS, but still unable to work for some people?

  • not working for me and why do i need spoofmac if you dont even use it?
