I was asked for an opinion about Canon's new Dynamic OIS -- see for yourself! I've only had this camera for a day, but it's particular character of OIS is becoming clear. It's great -- really great -- for slow walks. But no OIS can do EVERYTHING, so you'll see it struggle to compensate and "right itself" after large sudden movements (like pans).

Full geeky details: simple shooting modes, no manual anything, SP compression, converted to cineform & cut in the crudest slapdash manner using Premiere Pro CS4 (yes, I also tried editing the AVCHD files directly in PP-CS4, and yes they work fine) on my Windows laptop.

  • hey i have the same camcorder but i cant upload video in macbook can you give me some tips...

  • @KevinBjorke hey thanks for posting this. I love the quality of this cam. You say that you use Cineform. What is that exactly?.

  • I got mine yesterday and it is killer. It was because of quality videos like this that I decided to get one and I am not sorry in the least.

  • no no, please, no offense...rolling shutter effects is nightmare ALL cmos sensors. This is fact. you know that. when cmos sensor will have global sjutter like ccd this will be new era. I need some hd camera for recording car race and for me rolling shutter is unacceptable.

  • I love the video quality on these cams, they just kill my HV20.

  • Hey, where's that computer museum?

  • Kudos to Canon...but i'm.not throwing out the tripod quite yet. thanks for test!

  • we want more reviews about the NEW Canon HF S11.
