MAYHEM FEST 2012 LINEUP IS ANNOUNCED!!

The main stage for this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival will feature Slipknot, Slayer and a major special guest which will be announced on March 5th. The fourth slot on the main stage will feature a rotation of The Devil Wears Prada, As I Lay Dying and Asking Alexandria

In 2012 the tour has upgraded the production on the festival stage and this year the Jagermeister Stage will feature a special headline set by Anthrax supported by a rotation of The Devil Wears Prada, A I Lay Dying and Asking Alexandria, along with Whitechapel, High On Fire and the Jagermeister battle of the bands local winner opener band.

New Albums:
Slayer - New Album After Mayhem, Maybe will be premiering a new song at Mayhem.
Asking Alexandria - New album coming out around Mayhem time
Whitechapel - New album coming out around Mayhem time

Nu-Metal Band/Heavy Metal (Slipknot)
Thrash Metal/Speed Metal (Slayer)
Melodic Death Metal/Metalcore (As I Lay Dying)
Metalcore (Asking Alexandria)
Metalcore (The Devil Wears Prada)
Death-core (whitechapel)
Heavy Metal/Trash Metal (Anthrax)
Stoner Metal/Heavy Metal (High on Fire) (the Red Fang of 2012!)

They needed a black metal or death metal band.

Interesting how they put The Devil Wears Prada and Asking Alexandria on the lineup.

Who could the unannounced band be to be reviled on March 5th 2012?
Five Finger Death Punch, Motorhead, Korn, anyone else..

Why only 1 small stage?

This video includes out thoughts on the lineup!!!

  • High On Fire is pretty good live. Whitechapel has some mean pits. As I Lay Dying is orgasmic live. I've seen them twice. Asking Alexandria has a pretty good Wall of Death. I've seen them 3 times. The Devil Wears Prada...well, just watch your back. I've seen them 3 times. Have yet to see Anthrax, Slayer, or Slipknot. Really excited though. Overall I think Mayhem has a pretty good lineup this year.

  • Suprise band better be Born of Osiris

  • Mayhem is fucking selling out, bring emos bands over ? Come on now , shit but its fucking slayer so I have no choice , n if I see any emos in the pit while slayers playing it will for sure be their last pit they'll be in, n that's wen mayhem comes to Dallas, so yall emos beware .

  • As I Lay Dying also went to warped tour too >.>

  • What if the special guest is Maiden? Holy shit!

  • I hope its not Motorhead. I hope its five finger death punch or Korn!

  • Hatebreed and I'm going jest cuz of slayer slipknot. I could careless about AA and TDWP

  • btw, that's not actually true, there has never been one black metal band on Mayhem. Usually a fair share of death metal, but big US tours don't seem to pay any attention to the black metal or folk metal scene.

  • This is a pretty bad lineup. Not because of the shitty bands that don't belong like AA and TDWP, although that does contribute to it, but more so the lack of diversity. The lineup is virtually entirely Thrash Metal and Metalcore. As a fan of black metal and folk metal, I can understand that these genres are not fairly recognized on US metal festivals, but as a fan of death metal, I am shocked that there is not one death metal band. Hopefully this means Summer Slaughter will be better though.

  • sabbath!!!!!!
