The L Word - S4 - "I never should have let you go..."

Nicely crafted scene from the season 4 finale..... It put a nice little wedge between Tina and Kate. Also, I was thinking that Bette wanted to hear those words from Tina - afterall, she never said those things to Jodi when she gave her the sign. And I love when Bette calls Tina "T"

I'm still not really sure what's going on in this scene.. I get that Tina is really saying the things, SHE would like to tell Bette herself. But Bette - the look on her face...? I don't know. She never uses the advice she gets from T (has the woman ever been speechless??;-)). Is she really sad afterwards because Tina was on the beach with Kate?. It just seems out of character for Bette to be that nervous about seeing Jodi again. Well... I guess it can be interpreted both ways.

I think Showtime purposely made this scene ambiguous.When they were writing this episode, maybe season 5 was not confirmed yet. There's a deleted scene where Tina aggressively starts kissing Kate. If this was the series finale, they probably would have left the Tina/Kate kissing scene in.Then there would have been closure for the series -- K&T, B&J and T and B as just FRIENDS. Now that there's a season 5, that gives IC more time to keep messing with the tibette relationship.That's my take on it.

Seems to me that Bette may have gotten some vibe that it was Tina speaking directly to her. Look at her silence, her smile, the welling of emotion in her when Tina said "ok?".

It was only when Tina said "Sleep well" that Bette said "thank you T", a term of endearment that harks back to their history of love and connection.

It's hard not to want them to get back with each other.

Bette is trying to see if Tina really wants her to be with Jodi, if Tina is sincere helping her win Jodi.. look at Bette's face while Tina's talking, she looks devastated, because she at this moment, she realized, or should I say, believed that Tina has really moved on. That's why she continued her plan to win Jodi back..

i never thought about it from Bette's perspective.

i thought that Bette was sincere about not knowing what to say....

i thought it was Tina who made the words mean more than they were intended to...

i thought she was secretly saying it to Bette...wanting Bette to hear the truth behind those words. i mean, Tina wanted Bette back already.

remember the kiss before Bette left? Tina went in for more.

I think it took Tina's blatant attraction for Bette to finally realize what she really needed.

I totally agree, Bette just wanted T to say those things to her. even though she was. I mean come on T turned down Anabella Sciorra, PLEASE, give me a break!!
