Did you know the battery for the Chevrolet Volt is made of more than 200 lithium-ion cells? Or that the battery has 155 unique part numbers? Bill Wallace, Group manager for the Volt's battery, explains the history and development of the Volt's battery during the opening of GM's Global Battery Systems Lab.
I wish they made a battery like a standard 12v car battery--I'd replace the flooded lead acid ones in my EV with these ones

lithium-ion loses a half percent when you charge it. Over time you would have to replace it so its not all that so good when using lithium-ion batteries. Just like most cell phones go bad in 1 or 2 years depending on use. (most phones use lithium-ion) I don't know if people will pay 41k for a car, plus more just to change the battery. Just something to think about...

The people of GM are building very dependable cars. The Volt will be one of the most advanced electric flex fuel vehicle on the road. Believe it.
