  • Wat prachtig gespeeld, het was het lievelingsstuk van mijn vader en ik geniet er ook van.

Mijn compliment voor de mooie uitvoering!!!!!

  • @jimbojohnsy - I think you're confusing this with King Of Kings which does indeed tell the story you describe. The Light of The World is based on William Hunt's painting of Jesus knocking on our heart's door. The knocking becomes more insistent and the music describes the inner turmoil of us resisting. The calmness of the melody at the end describes the peace that comes from no longer ignoring the knocking and opening the door to our heart.

  • I still get moved by this,I have listen to it so many times, great sound ..thank you

I still miss playing this sort of SA music ..

  • @stever69 Thank you for sharing this information. He knows where to find the best of brass band music.

  • @twegan1

dear sir , the bandmaster was a former Salvationist he is my uncle and former principal cornet player of the Amsterdam staffband from 1970 -1975 ( Like my father from 1960-1965) and comes from a well know Sa family Ruysink in the Netherlands and he was a 4th generation Salvationist .

  • this piece has a lot of depth. it starts off with the birth of Christ then goes on to palm Sunday and then his death where the piece gets slower and lamentative. after this we get the louder triumphant section signifying the rising of the lord and the end symbolizes the assumption of Jesus into heaven

  • This takes me back many years,i was friends with Dean Goffins son,who i met at the National band camp in Tylney Hall,he was later tragically lost at sea.I have played it many times years ago,and still have it on a 78. This is played superbly, with all the passion and emotion that it requires,Was the BM.a salvationist at one time? His interpretation is perfect.

An uplifting experience to listen to.

  • I to grew up in the Salvation Army and played in bands till a few years ago. this was and is outstanding piece of music ,I loved playing it. listering to it OUTSTANDING I miss it some days ..any one found SA band playing it ..Words this based on wonderfull SA need more like this

  • I am in total agreement

  • I was originally against non Salvation Army bands playing this highly devotional music, bearing in mind the composers original intention for the composition. I had the honor to meet and share with Dean Goffin, the composer when I was a young SA Officer. This piece has led many to Christ. I have been really blessed b by the playing of this band, and I am glad it was possible for you to play this music.
