Illegal Immigration Ad - Conservative Party of Canada - 2011 Election Campaign

Here is a 2011 Conservative Party of Canada campaign ad that has only been broadcast in Quebec and in French. It insinuates that illegal immigrants escaping persecution, war and deplorable conditions in their own countries are somehow taking advantage of Canadian kindness and generosity. It also reveals a troubling xenophobic and paranoid undercurrent to the Conservative campaign. Here's the ad they didn't feel the rest of Canada should see. Might it be because they didn't want to alienate their large immigrant voting base in the rest of the nation?

We deserve better. We deserve a government that doesn't simply resort to attack ads and narrow-minded policies.

Your family is foreign, as is mine. If we didn't allow foreigners to come to this land, you wouldn't exist. The only real reason why Canada's population is growing is because of immigration.

I work 8 hours plus another 4 just to support my living here and I pay taxes just as you do. I also do obey the laws and integrate quietly. Everyone has the right to healthcare. But not everyone has the right to free healthcare. Socialised healthcare should be for Canadian citizens ONLY.

Do you really want millions of people to illegaly immigrate here & take advantage of our universal healthcare while not pay taxes? Why should hard-working Canadians pay for illegals to live a luxurious life here? Why should we allow immigrants here at all? How does it benefit us? That we seem "tolerant" in this world? Most of those "refugees" come into our country for our over-generous welfare state & free public services.

Guess who pays for them? Not the politicians. Not the bankers. Not the illegal immigrants themselves. Its US, the 12/5 working taxpayer! Illegal immigrants are NOT allowed in Canada. So what if there is "war, persecution, bla" in their countries. Why don`t they go to China or India? That`s because those countries are not kind enough to let them in & leech of their systems & commit crimes while being a burden for the hard-working taxpayers.

The reason why Canada's immigration rate is so high is because our immigration rate is so low. We should not depend on other countries (immigrants) to fix our problem. There needs to be more incentive, more motivation to have more children.

Yes. I believe it is. We should be honoured that they like our country so much they would leave all they know and love behind. I personally think that the government should give more in foreign aid, thereby helping those people in their native land.

In an ideal world I would completley agree with you that everyone should have the right to health care, the question is, is it the responsibilty of better established nations who have built the legislative and social framework to provide their citizens with socialized health care to subsidize those individuals who come from nations who are unable to provide for their citizens the same benefits.
