Runs about as good as you could expect for a three cylinder. It is a about due for a tune up. I've just been too busy to take it to Midas, let alone do it myself. The engine compartment is cleaner than most that I've seen, as well.

  • There is just so much space inside Metros. All you see from a distance is wires and hoses. lol. I have a 99 3 cyl, and they haven't changed under the hood. Although your water pump has a TINY little belt on it.

I wonder why these little 1.0's shake so damn much.

  • These little in-line 3-cylinders by their very nature are slightly unstable, so they will never run as smoothly as a V6 or V8, or even an in-line configuration with 4 or 6 cylinders. It's just the nature of a smaller engine, I guess.

Plus add to that that they weren't designed to be over-achievers by any stretch of the imagination. They were just designed as small cheap engines for a small cheap car.

  • oh theres no engine vibration at all

  • that would make a perfect go cart motor

  • Yeah, I know. Mechanics scratch there head on how a car can even run with half of a 2 L coke bottle for an engine. I laugh every time I pop my hood. After driving my metro for a couple months, when I get into a car with 4 spark plugs, It feels like a bad ass car. lol
