The Tim Burton produced animated film, 9, opens on 9/9/09 making it the official first fall feature for 2009. Shane Acker makes his directorial debut. A courageous rag doll named 9 voiced by Elijah Wood, may be just the leader needed for those that are left to survive. With the help of such friends as war veteran 1 voiced by Christopher Plummer, old man inventor 2 voiced by Martin Landau, mechanic 5 with John C. Reilly voicing, visionary artist 6, Crispin Glover's voice, and fearless warrior 7 voiced by Jennifer Conelly, 9. The Imaginarium of Dr. Panarsus, a film by Terry Gilliam of Monty Python fame, will premiere October 11th as the closing film of the 17th Annual Hampton's Film Festival. The film features Heath Ledger's final performance. Ledger had only finished shooting his character's real world scenes for the fantasy film before he died. In order to complete the film Gilliam recruited Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell to play Ledger's part in each of the different worlds the character travels to. Guy Ritchie has signed to direct the Warner Brothers live action feature of DC Comic's LOBO. Paul W.S. Anderson, who made Resident Evil and Alien vs. Predator, will bring the Three Musketeers back to the big screen and it will be in 3-D. Kelly McGillis has joined the cast of Stake Land. Rob Zombie's comicbook inspired R-rated feature, "The Haunted World of El Superbeasto," will be distributed in a new conceptual way to reach its target audience. Erica Cerra of Eureka fame will next be seen on the big screen when she takes on the role of Herra, the goddess of marriage, wife of Zeus, the god of lightning, in the film Percy Jackson and the Olympians:The Lightning Thief. On September 27th at Hollywood's Egyptian Theater The Art Directors Guild Film Society and American Cinematheque will be honoring and exhibiting artwork for Star Trek:45 Years of Designing The Future. Last Sunday was Disney/Pixar Day in Venice when the Pixar team of John Lasseter, Brad Bird, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton, and Lee Unkrich received the festival's first collective Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement Award. The lawsuit involving The Tolkien Trust, New Line and Harper Collins over the participation of JRR Tolkien's heirs and their receiving of profits from The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy has been settled. Disney Interactive Studios has acquired Wideload Games, which is a major player in the videogame industry. Alexander Seropian, who founded Bungie Software, the company that made Microsoft's popular Halo Franchise, before he started Wideload in 2003
