In this video I address people who take pride in trivialities and behaviors which are the result of genetics, happenstance and/or chance.
Being proud of being black, or homosexual, or white or whatever else, is akin to taking pride in the fact that you have a birthmark on your upper-right arm.
Stop that shit. Seriously. Pride should be reserved for events worthy of it.
Really though, this video was done in good intentions and good faith - I really hope that no one takes offense to it. I'm speaking from what I see to be common sense. If you don't agree, that's fine. I'd love to hear your thoughts, opinions, objections and unrelenting hatreds.

Oh, and here's the original video that I was referring to; the video that AntiqueLens and myself were discussing in the comment section:

Asexuality: The Making of a Movement-Pride March

  • For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;

  • hmm.. I just noticed that you found it necessary to spam my entire comments section with arcane nonsense. Usually I'd feel compelled to remove and block such rubbish, but I'm in a good mood today, so have a blast, knock yourself out. lol, wacko.

  • Clearly you have never been faced with bigotry based on something you are. The idea of gay pride and movements like it was to fight the idea pushed for centuries that being gay was something wrong, something to be ashamed of.

Your white, heterosexual male pride parade was the last several centuries in which white, heterosexual males dominated and controlled the planet while beating down those who didn't fit that description.

My asexuality is not a trivial thing, I am proud of it.

  • As a white heterosexual male, you're part of the majority and frankly, in that group never have had to overcome some adversary, as say black people have - homosexuals have etc. Being part of the white heterosexual group is being part of the privileged majority, right?

  • I think that a person can claim pride, because they have overcome bigotry and tradition.

This determination of self is something that perhaps we can take pride in.

    Would you agree?

  • many things are wrong about homosexuality..even the way people address them.. I have friends that are constantly labelling gays.. for example in a discussion they would say.."my gay friend just bought a house" or "my friend who is gay.. he just published a book" or " my friend, he is gay, he just moved in town" what is the importance of me knowing that he is gay? do we say" my heterosexual friend just moved to town"? if homosexuality was right.. people would not label them as such,,,

  • The reason why Gays need a PARADE is because they have become Gay.. they were not born gay.. just like ppl become lawyers, doctors, athletes, strong, wise, etc etc... this is why they Parade.. they were not gay when they were born... it's an act of becoming.. not being...no one is proud of who they are.. they are proud of what they have accomplished.. so are gays of accomplishing the act of homosexuality... they have transitioned from being born heterosexual to becoming gay..

  • I totally agree with you..and I have thought about that.. how come our city is not funding a heterosexuality parade.. the very thing that brings forth life to this world.. the reason why we have people contributing to this world existence.. as far as your arguments are concerned.. I totally agree with you..you make a lot of sense.. wtg.. proud of you.. don't know why..but I love people that speak their mind..

  • I agree with the way you see this, but what about being a Saiyan prince?

Some of these movements probably only go by "[something] pride" because that's the name we've come to associate with them. If holding an event to support a minority, pride is just a word that comes to mind, and it's a notion that not everyone completely understands. The members all come together under a label like that, but I bet a lot of them are really more intent on raising awareness than anything else.

  • @antiquelens

    Not anymore it's not.

  • @amhemsley

Well, I missed that parade. I want another.

  • dude i fucking love u. its like im hearing my own thoughts being said to me in a clear concise way.
