I think it was about the decline of film and how there's now no artist behind it, it's just recycled crap that takes no reasoning to understand it...It's also making fun of all those pretentious, whiny student films...

The title of this film is "The (Female) Artist is Dead" in French (or died, has died). Though I've already given my 500 character analysis of the film, who is this female artist in question? Perhaps Prometheus' bride at the end? Did he mean to say, "L'artiste est mort" which corresponds to the male character of Prometheus?

This film is about how Jay viewed himself. He felt isolated and distant from his college peers, so he used the character Prometheus to convey his emotions. Being "the last man on earth" is but a metaphor for being "so alone." The montage we see is his life flashing before his eyes after he kills himself. It's only at the end of this montage that we see that he had a fiancee, but she mispronounced his name, showing that she truly did not love him, and further proving that he was alone all along.
