live.darreners.com - Disk Utility is honestly my favorite or one of my favorite applications on the Mac. You can use it for so many different things. In this tutorial you will learn how to use all the amazing features of Disk Utility. I made a video a while ago on Disk Utility, but I was being very specific in that video. So you should first watch this video, then watch that video. Below is the link to my first video on Disk Utility.

  • im hoping u can help me i have no trouble formatting my flashdrive on my mac but when i plug it in my pc i get a message that says " flashdrive needs to be formatted" why is this happening help me plz...

  • @PoGixViRuS Make sure that your flash drive is formatted as MS-DOS (FAT).

  • Make sure the Map Scheme is GUID Partition Table. If that isn't the issue, try connecting the flash drive to another PC. If it works then it is your PC with the issue.

  • RAID (redundant array of inexpensive disks) Makes multiple disks act as one with different functionality based on the type of RAID array you use. Not very useful on a macbook but in an actual Mac Pro which you could have more than one internal hard drive it could potentially increase read rates and add parity which would keep your data safe in case 1 hard drive dies on you. I encourage you to check out wikipedia for a diagram of the different set ups you can have. BTW good video.

  • how did you get the welcome to darreners on the desktop screen

  • Does anybody know what to do when you verify disk permissions then repair disk permissions and then still have the same permission problems from the first time? Repair permissions obviously isn't fixing the problem....

  • @CameronJr96 press cmd spacebar then type diskutility and it should show up in the search

  • i cant find disk utility? can someone give me a site to download it i think it's been deleted off my computer

  • yea i made sure and still didnt work this sux

  • Go to your inbox on YouTube and send me a message. In your message, include what version of Mac OS X you are running.

  • where can I write you in private??

  • Private message or email me because I can't post links in comments.

  • Do you know video where I can be guide to fix this ???

  • What do you mean by wrong update? Sometimes things go wrong within applications or services on Mac OS. Apple created an option on the Mac OS X Install DVD to do an Archive and Install which will usually fix whatever problem you are having.

  • do an archive?? so every tie I do updates rong archives come???

  • I mean that why when I make mac updates they come incorrect, aren't they supposed to come correct, without any meed to be fixed

  • With the permissions not getting fixed means that you should do an Archive and Install. What do you mean by clean updates. I don't think keychain has anything to do with this. Archive and Installs usually fix whatever issue is happening on the computer.

  • In disk utilities we can fix permissions, mines are not fixed, also when we do updates, shouldn't mac send clean updates?

do key chain have anything to do

  • Never mind, I found it.

  • What is your reply? I don't see it.

  • ups I wrote the reply at the lower botoom!!!

  • In Disk Utilities we can check our mac, and we can repair permissions, after I do I still see the same files comming out, the don't repair.

WHY, when mac send updates aren't they supposed to be CLEAN, like a antivirus when purchased.

Why do that happen? is it a regular mac issue or it have to do with a key chain I removed??

  • @1969vonchita Can you be a little more specific.

  • Why do every time I update my Mac I have to do disk permission fix, don't Mac control original updates???? I dont understand

  • No Problem, i wouldn't recommend trying to set a RAID drive up using disk utility until you have researched RAID a little, but if u decide you want to and need any help along the way just message me, Keep up the great videos :)
