this movie was SHIT!! and i liked The Straight Story.

I like weirdness in a movie, generally the more the better but this made the cardinal mistake of being boring. The reviewers here constantly moan about character development or lack of it, but seem completely Emperor's New Clothes about this. I watched it late at night and simply couldn't be bothered finishing it with maybe 15 min to go and didn't bother finishing it in the morning. I can't recall the last time I've ever not finished a movie - I knew I'd got all I was going to get out of it.

Bleh, I found this calculatedly pretentious with it's calls to acting and cinema itself. Moreso than that it just commits the crime of being a BAD MOVIE. Yes it's a tour de force of acting but it's completely uncompelling. It's the movie equivalent of listening to someone tell you a dream they had that kept changing, a pet bore of mine. Real talent and art would be to take what is essentially random vignettes and create a compelling movie, not just weird scenes for the sake of being weird.

I'm pretty sure that the person "who he is" that Cristy was talking about is Michel Simon. Because of the cough and the "last appointment". Though, it could also be The man of a thousand faces Lon Chaney.

Yup that movie was weird alright, definitely performance art on film. It's not for everybody. But if your a real film buff and enjoy the absurd and unpredictable, then go see this. I just wished I was still 17 and smoked weed, then maybe I would have enjoyed 2 hour ride into insanity.
