From "The Johnny Cash Show," May 13, 1970. The second-season finale of his TV show, Johnny brings his mom on stage to accompany him on the first song he ever sang in public, as she did when he was 12 years old. "Powerful" doesn't begin to cover it.

Wow! That was awesome, to see Johnny and hi Mom, performing together! I've never heard this song done so slow before. Few could 'pull it off.' The Cash's did! :c) Great post! 5 Star's!

Johnny Cash carried himself in a up-right commanding way with his unmistakeable voice and almost Jeffersonian appearance. I think he was a bit of all of us and a credit to America's heritage. I miss Johnny Cash, but I am sure I'll hear him sing again up yonder in a little while.

@abargle Johnny Cash's ideals were, to put it mildly, all over the map. Some were even strange. Like his friend Merle Kilgore once said, "Genius comes in the oddest packages".

This is more than powerful. It is making me cry it is so beautiful and has personal meaning. I grew up listening to 'mountain' gospel songs. I grew up listening to mountain harmonies. When I was young I thought it was funny singing when we went back to visit Grandma and Grandpa. Now it is my favorite music. So many are gone, but the music remains. His mama is beautiful and this video is a treasure! I can't thank you enough for posting.
