  • @RobnMick this design is made so if the skimmer line or the maindrain pipes get lodged with debris, the suction will be diverted to the other line. there are other divices that will shut off the pump if there is a suction entrapment and some pool pump actually do this

  • That design scares me. The option to divert some or all of the suction to the main drain seems so dangerous. I understand the benefits for the pump, but if a child or weak swimmer with long hair gets too close to the main drain there is a potential for their hair to get pulled in and for them to drown. On pools in my area it used to be common practice for the skimmer box to have an additional line to the main drain so that if the basket ever got too full it would divert the suction to the botto

  • Very helpful video, Thank you so much

  • Hi, appreciate all the great education via rivepool Blog etc. So I am in education phase on equipment cababilities for upcoming DIY project. Was wondering why you use cartridge type vice DE or sand filter? Can you share your biggest convincing factors on filter choice. By the way, our pool selection is for limited space of about 6000 gal plus spa. Feedback greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • What size is that pool? It looks nothing like ours. We have the typical 6' Arizona play pool, have a Hayward filter that has3 of the tallest cartridge filters and 3 toppers that look like the skimmer filter, have no idea what the other two are. We also had the Hayward saltwater chlorinator, but true to it's warranty period, it went belly up after 3 years. Luckily I wasn't allergic to chlorine like we thought, so we just use the floating duck application. Wish our was streamlined like that

  • thanks for this video! This was great help for my school project!

  • Wow...this is a really useful one.Has been explained really well.Thanks.
