@akteddy79 we interpret life as nothing more than a series of problems (I think its probably more evident on a subconscious level of thinking). The thing, though, is that the problem itself probably doesn't exist: we create the problem, for in order for there to be a problem, we have to be aware of it. The universe would function just fine, as is, without us, for it has its own independent structure which WE are actually dependent of. We solve problems not because they are there, but because
It is true that all life solves problems and has evolved to survive. However is it not are desire to live that makes humans a successful species. If we desire to live then we are solving problems to satisfy this desire. Is this desire what caused all life to evolve. Maybe humans have developed an understanding and awareness of this universal desire. Our complex minds are ultimately driven to solve the problems of our desire to live. Our real intelligence is knowing that we desire to live.
@akteddy79, but imagination is part of what's needed to solve problems. I'm not sure I understand your objection. Yes, most every aspect of every creature is about solving problems, but the vast majority are problems that were not solved by intelligence at all, but by a mindless process of trial and error call evolution. We may use a simulation of that same process internally, but there is a big difference. We can direct our intelligence to any problem. Nature can only make better survivors.
@ananiasacts this definition is not unique to the word intelligence. For instance, if you asked my to define the word imagination, i could say it is the ability to solve a problem. and i would be right....because almost all abilities and characteristics attributed to living things are aimed at solving a problem...the ability to see solves a problem, ....and so does reproduction, thinking and a host of other things.
@akteddy79, I guess I'm wondering what you had in mind. When you say intelligence is a lot more than being able to solve problems, what do you mean? Can you give an example?
No...I´m sorry to have to tell you this sir, but your definition of intelligence is complete crap. Its like being asked to describe a house and you describe a window. Yes its part of the house, you miss the bigger picture. What a load crap...
Im God, i could make you undying.
O_o
Dont you trust me, you will see when you try it.
Pay n try - pay n try - pay n try
