The Japanese version is quite good. The "Australian" version sounds like they rounded up the nearest church group and asked the warbling, hymn singing grandmas to write the lyrics and sing it.

I'm not so fond of either closing. The music is too disco snd not at all heroric. The lyric on the one seem only to tout his destructive accessories and the other is too cutesy. I don't think they do the show justice with these closing lyrics.

I prefer the american (Australian?) version, but that might just be because I grew up hearing that version.

japanese version sounds better than the australian one, but the austrailian version has much better lyrics, in my opinion

Some Japanese also call Atom Astoro Boy.

It makes sense for it to be Canadian. I watched it in 89-90 and it wouldn't have still been aired that late in the decade if it weren't Can-Con.

I want you to listen to a Japanese version with CD.
Especially, part of the sound multiplex in "ASTRO BOY ASTRO BOY" is a point a little having gooseflesh for me favorite.

Thanks. That explanation makes a lot of sense. They all obviously have American accents in the version usually shown in the States. The 60's dub sounds so much more energetic than this limp dub, but after you get used to it, it's OK.
This isn't the Australian dub at all; it was recorded in America in 1980. The only reason it is called the "Australian" dub is because it was more popular on that continent.

I *thought* the American accents seemed too consistent. Thanks for the info!

So wait. The second ending here is the Canadian dub's ending? It sounds like the US closing--did they share the same end credit theme? Errrr. I'm confused.

Actually, as the notes say, this is the Australian dub (when I made this, Manga Video had told me it was Canadian...maybe I should remake it with the correct flag?). There is, as far as I know, no "US version" of this particular series, the version released on VHS and DVD in the US being this, apparently Australian, version. Does this explain it, or are you more confused?
