Cancer is threatening to wipe out the devil. 70 percent of the animals in Tasmania have fatal facial tumours. The Devil Island sanctuary is now home to18 robust devils, all of which were quarantined for six months before being released here. Sixty acres of fenced-off bushland on Tasmania's east coast have been donated as habitat for the conservation of this national treasure, uniquely found on the island off the south coast of Australia.
