The problem with the movie "Dark Girls" is that it only focus was on the pain that these grown woman experienced as children and haven't gotten over, what the movie should have shown was how these woman can rise by showing proud, confident,strong dark skin woman that love themselves & are taking pictures of themselves all the time and just seeing the love they have for themselves.My daughter isn't going to see them on the disney channel or movie screen so if not in movies like this when!

WHY is your lipstick so ugly?? But anyway, I wish this documentary focused on the personal growth of dark skinned women and not just the pain.. I'm brown skinned, but it's pretty close to being dark skinned. Most people say I'm "borderline." I'm pretty and people tell me all the time, but there's always that one person .. . that one person who says "you're cute as shit ... FOR A DARK GIRL." And then I feel ugly ...

@jeromemilton Wow I never thought about it like that. I was just introduced to this on Thursday. I knew it all existed. However what I personally find ironic is that as a mixed woman I always wanted to be 100% black. Always tried to get darker when I was growing up! Lol. I felt like I was missing that deep family roots.

@austinguy23 But general society only prefers lighter skin because we live in a world where European/Western ideals have dominated the planet for centuries. Europe has colonised and ruled Africa, Asia, and the Middle East in the past, which has in turn caused Africans, East Asians, Middle Easterners, and South Asians to adopt the 'whiter is better' mentality, even though scientifically speaking, dark African skin is the most superior of all skin types because of its extremely low aging rate. :D

@austinguy23 the preferring lighter skin tone is due to colonialism/racism. You see the skin tone issues alot in Southeast Asia as well as South America. You clearly need to be educated about colorism in society.

People tend to find certain physical traits to be attractive. Get over it. Men tend to prefer long hair, slender build, and a particular hip-to-waist ratio in women. Get over it. Women prefer guys who still have their hair and are tall. Get over it. And yes, people typically prefer a lighter skin tone. Again, GET OVER IT! Did you honestly believe preferences in physical traits would arbitrarily exclude skin tone?! You're not being rational.

BTW, don't be so dramatic in your vids. It's cheesy.

Let me say this, the end of this video WAS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I can't lie and say that I have never gone through the persecution of being a dark-skinned woman in America. And sometimes Satan still tries to torment me with this device, but as a born-again Christian I understand what all of this means. God created us all with BEAUTY in mind, satan destroys us with his devices. This whole light-skinned/ dark-skinned thing is a distraction from the enemy. I LOVE this video, it confirmed this.
