Miracle of the TECO Sun Cross

Four is the sacred number of many Native American groups and can be found repeated in the four points radiating from the circle. The number four is embodied in the four points of the compass, North, East, South and West; in the four seasons of the year Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter; in each day by sunrise, noon, evening and night; by four seasons of life, childhood, youth, adulthood and old age. It is also believed that with life came four sacred obligations: development of a strong body, a clear mind, a pure spirit and devotion to the welfare of people/family. All of these things are bound together within the circle of life.

The Sun Cross appears on a single domed TECO (Tampa Electric Co.) structure as the sun crosses the sky. The Sun Cross will follow you as you drive by. Never, ever stop. Keep driving. Armed security guards will encourage the curious to "move along" and worship elsewhere.

The "Piedra de los Solas" was carved in 1479 in the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan. At the center of the stone is the god Tonatiuh, the fifth sun and ruler of the present era. Surrounding him are the previous four suns and how they ended: wild animals, wind, fire and floods.

The Aztecs believed they were living in the fifth and final sun, and the sun stone gave an account of the beginning and final ending of their world, prompting some to describe it as a "doomsday calendar".
