Got Me Going Crazy (Chapter 15)

*the next morning, Mrs. Jonas walks Joe and Nick through a crowd of reporters.*

Reporter: Mrs. Jonas, care to comment on your boys doing drugs?

Reporter 2: Nick, is it true you doing under-age drinking?

Reporter 3: Joe, weve heard you already lost your purity? Are you taking off the ring?

Joe: Of all the damn rumors-

*Nick nudges Joe. Mrs. Jonas manages to get Joe and Nick through the crowd and into the 7-Eleven.*

Derek: Nick, whyd you bring half your family with you?

Nick: Hey, Derek! Heres your morning paper!

*Slams it on the counter. The head line is written in big bold letters: WHEN GOOD BOYS GO BAD. Underneath, theres a photo of Joe and Nick, faces to the ground, being handcuffed. Down the page a little more is a photo of Joe next to Yvette as she removes her necklace. Joes face shows nothing but shock and heartbreak.*

Derek: Whats this?

Nick: Us being caught retrieving your damn drug so Kevin can find his girl!

*Derek starts laughing.*

Joe: Hello, were mad at you! What are you laughing at?

Derek: There is no girl! That was a trick I use to fool saps like him!

Mrs. Jonas: Are you aware were prepared to sue you?

*Derek stops laughing, looks scared for about 2 seconds, and then laughs again.*

Derek: Yeah right! Ive already got a lawyer! Jessica!

*Jessica walks over.*

Nick: Jessica? You?

Jessica: yeah. I guess you thought wrong about me, huh, Nick?

Nick: I-I...

Jessica: I know just how to counter-sue...how to play my cards right...you are no match for me, Nicholas.

*meanwhile, at the Jonas house, Kevin is grounded. He is doing dishes when Steph bursts in through the front door.*

Kevin: Steph?

Steph: Kevin! Come on! Youre brothers might be in trouble!

Kevin: Huh?

Steph: Karina told me about this Derek guy and his plan. I did some research on him. *She reaches in her purse and pulls out a folded-up sheet of paper and hands it to him* Lookit!

Kevin: *reads* 22 year old man caught getting drugs through underage manipulating. Police say they caught Robert Keed in the act of sending around a 16 year old girl to retrieve various amounts of marijuana. When questioned, the girl stated Keed would help her locate the "love of her life."...

Steph: And unscramble the letters...Robert Keed...Derek Berto!

Kevin: Oh my god!

Steph: read on!

Kevin: *flips a page and reads* following his November 2006 arrest, Keed escaped from prison and has not been seen since. It has been suspected that the girl, now 19 year old Jessica Steinberg is linked to Keeds disappearance.

Steph: You know what Im thinking?

Kevin: That Jessica really shouldve changed her name as well?

Steph: Kev...

Kevin: I know...but how can we help them? Im kinda grounded here?

Steph: Leave that to me. *goes upstairs to talk to Mr. Jonas. After awhile Mr. Jonas yells "Holy CRAP!" and runs downstairs*

Mr. Jonas: Kev, youre no longer grounded. Go out, have fun! Good luck!

Kevin: *looks at Steph and mouths "youre amazing!"*
