The Encounter (Transcript)
I.
She beckoned me with a subtle gesture
After we had met on Fridays
Sweet in her enunciated diction
Blue eyes shining with otherworldly intelligence
Sophisticated and virile
I first declined the invitation.
II.
My heart too easily flies along the telegraph lines
To her warm bed
I saw no wrong in it
She loved me and I loved her too.
That night there were none of her long words
That made me happy
I come from the Asian immigrants of the 1950s...
-And gave me more delight than any poem-
All discussion dissolved swimming through
The tender Aquarian deeps into a deeper communication
With one another.
III.
It's only in her feminine embrace
That a man learns how to cry again.
For what had lasted before but was lost
And for what couldn't last again, this-
As her word was given to the other
I have her and I have lost her.
