@athabascka there is a difficult truth here that I feel you and many (most) overlook, that by continually excusing the moderates you emasculate any attempt to do anything productive about the extremists. Did the romans worry about 'moderate visigoths?' If you accept terms like 'militant nazi' then you start searching for moderate nazis, no doubt some exist. @wize1: I highly doubt Horowitz regards all Muslims as terrorists, or evil. Remember what Christopher Hitchens wrote after 9/11/01, "As a defender of the Muslims of Bosnia, I must say Bin-Ladenism poisons everything it touches." Radical Salafist Islam, the kind as practiced and promoted by al Qaeda, surely is a form of totalitarianism and a form of racism. They are fighting for a society no rational person would ever consider living in.
