I think the turning point came when air fare became so reasonable. People could fly to FL, etc and that's when the Catskill's began to die.

It's very sad that it all ended. I played trombone at Grossingers, Raleigh, and the amazing Concord from 1971 until 1985. The memories still stay in my mind and heart. I saw dozens of comedians and played for so many famous acts.

Wow. I was at Kutsher's in 1976, a group of us nursing students went to a teaching day there. I don't remember the program, but boy, do I remember Kutsher's! Even though we were just there for the day, we were graciously allowed to use all the facilities as if we were there on vacation. I wish I'd taken my camera----it was so funny seeing ladies in their school nursing uniforms playing shuffleboard during the lunch break! And the food was FANTASTIC, & I remember the waiters flirting with us.

I am one of those that don't like to dress up too much but I miss the days of these type of places to stay at even tho I never really stayed at any.I love the mountains more than the beaches and this is part of the problem today. The younger generation rather be at the beaches.

So sad how times change, i wish i was alive in the rockin 50s. Id just love to know when the turning point was? People were so cultured back then. Today no one even gets dressed up anymore, very sad.
