  • Could you add "This Heart"? I can't find it anywhere.

  • I'll sort that out. Meanwhile, check your messages ;)

  • @drwhatson When done right, sampling is an art. REAL hip hop heads always apprieciate the original songs/oldies. 90% of sampling is about the search, so producers spend hours and hours listening to and becoming fans of oldies like this. Sampling also gives new life to songs that would otherwise be forgotten, as cratediggers try to find the original songs sampled by their favorite producers.

  • Great piano, very strong. Wicked lyrics.

    whoo sampled this??

  • @LaidBackLewisBlack my man LaidBack understands it all. i do spend hours listenin to forgotten music, searchin is a big part of sampling, ive also become a fan of many differnt genres of music because of sampling, i love diggin through records. big ups

  • @thebrotherhoodbeachz "Different strokes for different folks?" (Sly & Family Stone) - and how many times has Sly's music been shamelessly ripped off by the sampler generation? As an excuse it just won't do.

  • @drwhatson

    different strokes my friend

  • @drwhatson i honestly think its because there's a gap between the generations. Many African American youth in the U.S. don't inderstand where they came from. They are ignorant to the history of their own people. I am one of the few young black people in the U.S. that actually appreciate the music for what it is, and most of the time that means being outcasted by the majority of others, unfortunately.

  • @LaidBackLewisBlack Quite, however I was into earlier recordings too when I was young (ie. 60's Soul), then continued buying contemporary Soul releases right through the 70s and early 80's - until it "went electro", however am still actively involved in the 4K Soul music scene, as are most of my friends, many of whom also DJ. I just wonder why there is such a passion for the music here in the UK, and such (seeming) indifference among US Black American youth in particular?
