The Merrell Outbound Mid GTX Walking Boot is a really tough boot designed for any terrain in any conditions. The boot has lots of great features to keep it tough, including the Goretex technology to ensure waterproofing but also breathability for those warmer days.

Flexibility my hole. The whole point of Vibram soles are to prevent movement and give grip. They dont give a natural feel in my opinion. I'd much prefer a boot without a vibram sole.

I used this on the AT for the last 1200 miles. It was very sturdy & durable. The eyelets are strong. Ankle support is great. The rubber surround was great to have through all the bogs in NH & ME. I still have enough Vibram lug depth to probably go another 800 mi at least. Only thing I didn't like about the boot is the insole size which is .2" more narrow than a Brannock medium width. My big & pinky toes went numb, which was more annoying than perilous. I wish they had a wide size in this.
