In its most basic explanation, fermentation is the process by which yeast consume sugars and produce both carbon dioxide and ethanol—the type of alcohol found in alcoholic beverages. In brewing, fermentation is what gives us our alcohol content as well as the carbonation in our bottles. Fermentation in brewing is caused by special brewers yeast, which have been developed because of the flavor profile they create as well as the various efficiencies they have in regards to overall sugar consumption. Thats really just a fancy way to say how much sugar they will convert into alcohol before they become inactive.

  • @PeiHomeBrewer Thanks! My concept was to make short individual videos about every home brewing item or concept I could so that someone could search for the bit of information they want and see a short informational video on just that selection. When I started brewing, there were longer videos that covered lots of ground, but nothing short and sweet if I wanted to find some info on a particular piece of equipment or term. This will probably make more sense once I launch the website :-) Cheers!

  • Good presentation. How come you are making them separate videos?
