UI-70, one of the most prolific metal circles and certainly one of the first to make daring production leaps under the Touhou arrange stream. 20 albums and counting is a commendable feat.

Their C78 release went in a somewhat unorthodox direction, in that it consists of 20 arranges of the same theme. Surely a haven for any Phantom Ensemble lover.

Perhaps because the theme is too static throughout the album, some of these renditions were not properly celebrated, which is why I'm uploading this one. New to YouTube, I think. If not, it's not too out there. Some people might not find the album fit for listening in one sitting, which is understandable, given that a majority of the Touhou fans who listen to the arranges are looking forward to listening to the Touhou themes, and 20 of the same them might seem too much at once.

Incidentally, this release contains a few noteworthy renditions which are some of the best that UI-70 has ever made. It certainly sounds better where UI-70 excels, which is that traditional rock sound ever so prominent in their smaller releases. Unfortunately, it does have some forgettable tracks, which are mostly things that deviate from their staple sound. They are not bad, they just don't have as much cohesion as the great ones. Sometimes the different sequences don't connect too well, and sound either cheesy or unfinished.

But that is a minor faux pas. Because, as I said, where UI-70 is doing its own thing, where it excels, such as with this track, it's altogether catchy and cool, and encompasses the original theme while doing that.

If you're looking for some heavy metal goodness, or acoustic stuff, or some other variations (post-rock, alternative, etc), you should check this one out, specially if you're a fan of the theme.
Relatedly, this one reminds me of some track by Poets of the Fall, can't put my finger on it at this moment.

  • Lunasa seems to be popular to use as pictures for rock remixes.

  • @groudonsbest It's just that the other sisters don't have much badass looking art. Also, though none of them play the guitar, Lunasa plays strings too, so I guess she's the most fitting choice.

  • It's nice to see you back. I had to blink twice to verify that the upload was actually yours.

...Speaking of which, where have you been?

  • @ParanoidNEET Around, just not feeling like uploading to this channel.

  • Totally loved this album. Fiercely underrated, because of most people get bored listening to the same track for too long. But damn, they really pulled a good job on many of these. There's another one that hasn't been uploaded to youtube, but definitely deserves the attention.

  • This is just awesome 0:12 = face melts... brb im gonna pick up my face from the ground =^=

  • @TeHj0keR I'll pass. These circles seem to be some of the only people who are still making instrumentals. I'd prefer to keep it that way, unless more of the mainstream starts making them.

  • lol lunasa :D

  • I wish some of these circles would get in touch with me if they want really awesome English male vocals. I'm fairly sure I could find them pro female vocals too.

  • Gimme dat pic
