Electricity following the shortest path first. The circuit with shortest path would have more electricity pumping through it due to less resistance than going through more plates, since electricity travels along the negative end first changes closest to that end might show more of a result. Kinda like making wires shorter.

I just figured it was the effect of resistance as is learned in basic electronics.

Interesting...(I don't believe that is what is going on here)... John AArons

Halfing of the cube. Negative is more dominant as energy rushes through, the neutral is the barrierseperating the other platon the left except for the ones directly in line with the negative plates. The positive is the shortest path.

cool~ strong reactions~
John, consider testing the following configuration:
Connect the 2 outer plates to positive on the battery. Connect the centre plate to negative. Leave the other plates 'neutral' Then, what ya wanna do is make a bridge between the 2 outer positive plates. I will not tell you what to expect, just do as you have always done, and see for yourself...
Good luck, be safe and march on my friend!

What Gioscuo says makes sense and I was thinking along the same lines. If putting more + plates on the outside of the 4 - plates would further increase output and drop amperage.
