Wow, these old things were rough! I grew up in Class 33 country; the 6-cylinder Sulzers always sounded rather uneven compared to their 8-cylinder cousins

With the wind blowing in the right direction , you could hear them before you seen them. I go to Bo'ness to hear one of them now (27001)

loved the noise of the old sulzers, takes me back to the late 70's and early 80's when i stayed next to the eastfield depot at cowlairs in springburn when all the engines would be sat outside idling and each making their own own unique sound from the clatter of the class 27's to the turbo whistle of the class 20's magical memories indeed even better during the long summer days, the old eastfield depot is long gone now but the memories of those days will live with me to my dieing day.
