Here's a sample of classical music we're bringing to Rock Band 2. Look for it on the Rock Band Network via XBox LIVE this spring (2010). PlayStation and Wii to follow soon.

For the first time, you'll be able to play classical greats with your Rock Band game system, thanks to the folks at the Fauxharmonic Orchestra.

  • Coming Friday, May 14 -- Night on Bald Mountain and Brahms Hungarian Dance No. 5. Look for them in the Rock Band Network!

    XBOX Live only, for now.

  • I was under the impression that public domain compostions (i.e. 90% of well known classical compositions) were not allowed on rock band network.

Also, the drums are barely audible, you'd probably wanna turn them up in the RB mix. Unless they were just added for the sake of having drums, in which case you might as well make them no part.

  • @TheSproingler - Actually, no, PD compositions are allowed.

The RB mixes will have a good drum balance ... not overwhelming (to maintain some semblance of the musical qualities of the original music), but definitely audible.

Some of the music has less of a role for the drum part (e.g., Beethoven's 2nd), but not having them at all would be sad. Think "timpani" instead of "drum set."

  • @motherplantYAR Good, that way another person who simply can't ignore the stuff they don't like doesn't clog up the RB servers. Seriously, that's like 50 songs out of the like 1500 available across DLC and RBN. Boohoo.

  • @Fauxharmonic Hello, I live in Mexico and I want to download some RBN songs, but i can´t. It says NOT AVAILABLE. Please I like RBN songs. Please answer!

  • These songs all all incredibly fun!

Can't wait to try some Beethoven Symphonies!

  • Can't wait for "Night On Bald Mountain"! One of my favourites for a long time!

  • Wow! The new definition of "cognitive dissonance."

  • at least rock band has variety unlike guitar hero with its 6 euro track packs

  • It's a good thing you play Guitar Hero, and don't know what custom songs are, dumbass.

Besides, Guitar Hero hasn't had a good game since 2, not counting AS/Met/SH. 3 was okay, but some songs sucked.

  • That definitely works. Oceans by Pearl Jam is a song already in Rock Band that has timpani charted to drums for part of it. It ends up being a ton of fun.
