@CyberCacique1 How long into the recovery process were you able to complete this action. also is there anything you might have done different in hindsight as far as recovery possibly ramp it up a bit. since there is only 1% chance of re-rupturing the achilles

Very Helpful Sounds like i have some work ahead of me

i'm just now starting to put my full weight on it again and i'll definately take it easy this time round. also, please take my case as a warning not to do too much with an injury like this. even if it feels really strong. the sound of the re-tear came as a really horrible surprise.

hi mate. I snapped my tendon completely back in may playing badminton. so i had a cast on for three months. i then re-tore it (partially this time) by doing too much on it even though it felt really strong. i actually haven't needed an operation and have been going to a chinese healer. i've been given poultices and oils which help strengthen and loosen the tendon- muscle join. i use my hands and oil to massage the area twice a day.

I was using a drumstick before which is not so great...The Homedics massage I use is really meant for the back. It's heavy and large with two vibrating red balls which can radiate heat as well. Run it up and down, over and across the whole tendon.
You can buy the Ultrasound from Amazon. It runs on 1MHz and requires gel for application. It stimulates your internal tissue to increase circulation. Could be prescribed stim. Traumeel everyday. I still get some inflammation.
im almost 4 months post op. Should i be able to jog and stuff like that? how about single leg toe raise on the on the injured side? because i cant do that at ll

@jahmezis45 Single leg toe raise the last thing I was able to do. I was REALLY frustrated at how long it took me to do that movement.
Be patient. Don't rush back. Listen to your body.

Very candid and honest video. Kudos to you CyberCacique1.
I'm back to playing some limited squash now. But will wait at least a few more months before even trying to play a real game.
Some tips for ATR folks...In addition to squash and weights, I use a Homedics massager to increase circulation and get the scar tissue moving, portable ultrasound to breakdown scar tissue, and Traumeel to heal scar and further reduce inflammation. At the gym I always stretch and soak in the hot whirlpool.

Thanks for the kudos. :)
Glad to hear you are on the squash court again! Wow! Progress is great and I completely understand about giving it a few more months before playing a real game. I have yet to step onto a basketball court. I'm waiting for next summer for that. :)
The massager is a GREAT idea. Is your ultrasound machine the SAME thing as prescribed stimulation?
Do you use the Traumeel everyday? Do you get inflammation after each workout?
Stretching & heat are also great helpers.

Joaquin, I know what you mean and I've seen some other posts/blogs where being positive was not the chosen method, but maybe it's the idea of this injury that reset my perspective in life, as a whole. I was a pretty positive person before this injury, but this experience has caused me to really enjoy simple things much more. Nice to hear you're at the gym. It's important to try and get back to "normal" life although still getting to the point of working the calf/AT region will take some time.
