San Antonio's 13.5 inch Record Snowfall in 1985

San Antonio's famous "Snow of 1985". At the time, I was living near the Culebra Rd.-1604 part of town. I recorded part of this at my home and the rest of this was at my parent's home in Helotes, TX. Included is a famous "Skiing in Helotes" clip.The airport recorded 13.5 inches between January 11th-13th of January 1985. In Helotes, we were closer to 15 inches.

I totally remember this!! I was 5 and living just north of downtown S.A., and I believe I was due to report back to school the week this occurred but obv everything was shut down so I couldn't; Mom and I stayed at/close to home while Dad braved the odd trip out in his van (which looked a lot like the van in this video) to the nearby Handy Andy for groceries and Ace Hardware for other supplies I built my one and only snowman that year. Ah, memories.

Yes, it was a fun time! Maybe with this being an El Nino winter, we will finally see more snow for San Antonio again!

Hang in there...if we can get rid of the La Nina pattern this year, hopefully we will get more moisture next winter and have a chance for snow.

I've visited San Antonio in mid-October, and it was till above 90 degrees. Snow like this must be the northern equivalent of a massive blizzard.

I was conceived when my parents where snowed in. It matched me being born in October. This is so cool. I hope my parents had some fun too.

WOW i remember this...I was living in Dallas and was around 10years old at the time!

I remember watching the weather channel...half of texas was covered of snow.
