This video was recorded by my colleague Aruna Gammanpila during the annular phase of the Annular solar eclipse 15th January 2010, from Jaffna Sri Lanka. We had some 11-minute duration for the annular phase since we were so close to the central line of the eclipse.

they use a tube/device of some sort to display what the sun looks like on a piece of paper. Thats the sun.. its got a ring of light around it because the ccenter is being blocked.

We used a telescope with a filter to get an image of the sun, which was projected to a while background so that everyone could see the eclipse, without having to directly look at the sun with welder's glass-aided eyesight.
