i was on the morest crew from april of 66 to dec of 67,we made 20,000 landings using the arresting gear.for me it was exciting and never a dull moment.you did an outstanding job putting this together and the music is tops. thanks for the memories,i view this quite often.

I never put much thought into aircraft using the arresting hook on land. I'm curious as to what held the cables in place. Did they pour heavy concrete footing as a sturdy platform to build on?

@TheRantingCabbie The name of the arresting gear system was called MOREST ( Mobile Arresting Gear ). I was a member of an Operating Marine A4 Squadron and did not get involved in the workings of MOREST which was handled by MABS 12 ( Marine Air Base Squadron ). I believe the MOREST system was mounted on a flat bed truck. I believe there was Hydraulics involved to make for a smooth stop.
