It's the same as a hurricane - but in the Western Pacific they're called typhoons. Their names are assigned using the different languages of the East Asian countries that are frequently affected by them. This typhoon happened to have the Japanese name Usagi - which means rabbit. Rabbit kind of has special cultural meaning in Japan. Not super special, but the feeling of the word usagi isn't necessarily as cute and fluffy as rabbit sounds to Splazz from comment below..
So you live in Japan and get excited in Typhoon season or you come over here whenever there is one? Either way it seems a bit of a weird hobby :o
