@PhoenixPhire22 Divine Symphony. I'm telling you this having Emperor's In The Nighstide Eclipse and Mayhem's De Misteriis Dom Sathanas as my 1 and 2 respectively. Divine Symphony is a solid 3. Check it out.

Well... the secular stuff does tend to be vastly superior for the most part in terms of musicianship. I still haven't found a Christian band I would stick in my top 5 bands of all time... the closest I've found is theocracy and Place of Skulls... But theocracy tends to be too progressive at times and Place of Skulls is inconsistent. Waiting for something to knock me off my feet like Blind Guardian, Helloween, Sabaton, old Nightwish, Eluveitie, Kamelot etc...

I'm amazed by all the awesome bands out there in the "Christian metal genre" It's a shame there even has to be a distinction. Metal should just be metal. But I reckon its better to break bands up into genres and their beliefs. It makes it easier for me to get a hold of other bands like this.
