A Perfect Body video, looking at Andie's struggle with anorexia, focussing on the end and her friends helping her to recover.

The song is Don't Give Up, which is on the film's soundtrack.

I've started a blog for my thoughts and experiences with eating disorders. http://stillhopingstilleating.blogspot.com/

  • I saw this movie.

    It was impressive.

I wonder, the actress looks so skinny, does she have an eating disorder in real life as well?

  • I don't know. She certainly didn't look thin enough to be anorexic at the time this was filmed. I've never heard of her having suffered from an eating disorder, but then again I've not looked.

  • I personally don't think it's a great idea for movies/books being created on eating disorder experience. I, for one, learned ALL the tips on "how to be thin quickly and lying to your parents about your eating habits" from these ED-related books/movies. Those are addictive; and I'm already stuggling with my weight for 9 years now and my PARENTS still haven't figured out about those ED books/movies I keep obsessing about for the past few years.

  • I can see your point, but I also think they can help people understand more about eating disorders. There's one film I love, Sharing the Secret, about a mother discovering that her teenage daughter has been bulimic for three years. It does an excellent job of explaining that it's not about the dieting and that it is an addictive disease.

I took a lot of comfort from eating disorder films and books when I was recovering. It was nice to know that it was possible.

  • who sings this song?

  • Peter Gabriel

  • Yes! This is Amy Jo Johnson, she is a gymnast and an actress. She played Kimberly the pink ranger on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, remember?

Those pictures Andie is looking at on her wall are pictures of Amy when she was younger.

  • Isnt that the pink ranger?

  • i miss gymnastics

  • @DarkAng2022 I wouldn't suggest going for unhealthy things, hun. You'll end up like me- all depressed and feeling ugly inside no matter what.

  • @beamerZ A lot of the times, for these movies, the actresses will lose mad amounts of weight under doctor supervision.

  • @beamerZ i heard she had to lose a lot of weight to play in the movie which is unhealthy . but she gained it back i dont think she had anorexia tho in real life

  • @nikkola88 i wish i could get a few tips from you nikkola. i have been over weight for some time now. and yet i can't get lose the weight no matter what i do. can you help me?

  • Less truth, bigger lie, not answer. The disease exists. The only way to at least deal with it is to expose it. Anorexics/bulimics can be saved but only if the truth lives in the room where resides body, mind, heart and soul. Behind the wall of lies they are fat when they are but skin and bones. Life being snuffed away before eyes that see not the truth anymore. Anorexia and bulimia nervosa were even fashionable in European middle ages and ancient Rome. Love, Peace

    God bles

  • xoAmyJo and CJixxKkizz, That's true, but maybe this film and others like it aren't made for people who are anorexic or affected by anorexia, but so that people who no nothing about the disease can begin to understand it.

  • ur absoutly right u know

  • that's true. movies like this do not stop people becoming anorexic, they give them ideas
