Shel Israel: When youre blogging you need to be giving something to your reader that compels them, engages them but also shows a little bit of yourself so that they look at your words and say I like him, hes interesting, gee I wish Id been in that room at that time. That reaches tip 4 I guess which is tell stories, dont sit there and give a list of corporate pearls that were designed in conference rooms but tell a story about what its really like in your company where you work. Tell me a story about how you tried, maybe tried and failed and are now trying again to accomplish something in your job. Show me some human struggle.
Do you enjoy being marketed to? Do you like being advertising? Do you read many corporate brochures in your spare time? How many of them have you caught in a conversation? Basically corporations worldwide have got into the habit of shovelling out crap. They go to the PR people who add adjectives in, they go to the legal people who take that which is interesting out and they send something out which is just pure crap. What designers look at the competition and decide to do something just like the competition? This is boring, nobody wants to read things that are boring. We want to hear stories, we want to hear struggles.

Shovelling out crap! I was watching TV for the first time in ages the other day and was getting angrier and angrier about stupid ads for laundry powder - crap is a gross understatement.
