Conductor - Alon Sariel
Born in Beer Sheva in 1986. After finishing studies at the Beer Sheva Rubin Conservatry, Sariel was accepted to serve in the IDF under the title Extraordinary Musician and pursue academic studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, where he achieved both B.Mus and M.Mus. In 2008 Sariel has studied at the Brussels Royal Conservatory and since 2009 he is studying in Hochschule fuer Musik und Theater Hannover. Among his conducting teacers are Yevgeny Tsirlin, Ronald Zollman and Paul Weigold. Alon is attending further studies with Daniel Barenboim as member of the West Eastern Divan Orchestra, and in courses with Roberto Gini, Benjamin Zander and Yoel Levi.
During the years 2002-2008 Sariel was supported by the AICF scholarships and in 2009 he was chosen for the Audience Prize in the name of Meira Gera for the Early Music category of the Aviv Competitions. In the same year, Sariel achieved the 1st prize at the Jerusalem Academy Conductors' Competition as well as a excellence grant from the Chais Foundation. During his studies, Sariel won top prizes in several national and international competitions such as the competition for string instruments of the music academy (Jerusalem 07), the Calace competition (Italy 07), the European Mandolin Award (Greece 07), the Bloch Competition (London 2010) and the Israeli Music Competition (London 2010).
Sariel is of the founders of the Israeli Early Music Project in 2006 and the Hannover International Ensemble in 2010. Since 2010 he is also Chief Conductor and Musical Deirector of the Camerata Medica Goettingen. Sariel has toured with diverse ensembles throughout Europe, North America, the Far East and the Middle East. Sariel is constantly on stage in Israel and Europe both as conductor and instrumentalist of a wide range of plucked instruments such as the mandolin, lute, theorbo, baroque guitar and vihuela. Participated in the making of several albums for companies such as Naxos and his playing can be heard on Kol Ha'Musika and WNYC.
