somewhere I heard or read a piece on the "monty Zucker" effect or technique of stylizing portraits. Similar, I think to the Orton effect. Search has been unhelpful. Can you give some ideas?

in my opinion, I prefer how sharp the original image look without blurred effect.

I often ended up with overly contrasted and saturated image when i used multiply, so I used to make the 2 images (sharper one & blurred one) lighter by lowering brighness and contrast manually. But yr method is way too cool, so ill sitck with this :D
Iv leant a lot of things about phothosp just by goin thrugh your tuts alone. Specially in retouching photos as, im learning a bit of photography. Thanks for sharing :D
