  • BTW, I know all the words in Irish (it's a song I sing on a regular basis), if anyone wants to know them. I don't know if there's room to post them here, though.

  • Thank you. The tune itself suggests that the lyrics just HAVE to be beautiful too. I would be very interested to hear them if you have them. It adds dynamics to playing it if you can incorporate the words and sentiment behind them.

  • Ah, yes. I forgot. Maith thú! (Well done!)

  • Beautifully played. Lovely!

  • Very nice.

  • Tà si iontach cosùil léis Eithne (Enya), nach bhfuil ?

  • Beautiful, tá sé go hálainn!! :-) One question.. What are the chords of the left hand? I need to know them for playing this tune in Irish class.. I found some chords, but yours are more beautiful! ^_^

  • We (ourselves) brought summer with us. It's the traditional song for booleying - the practice of transhumance, when the young girls and boys brought the cattle up to the sweet mountain pastures in early summer and camped out in quickly-made bothies, singing and dancing by campfires and generally having a good time.

This was the song sung to greet Elizabeth Stuart's representative when he came to Ireland in the 16th century.

  • samhradh means "summer" and it also means "summer garland of mayflowers", so the title of the song has 2 meanings:

"We have brought the summer with us"

    or

"We have brought the garland of mayflowers with us"

  • Thank you for posting that! Beautiful!

  • beautiful

  • There is a collection of Gaelic songs called" Singing Irish Gaelic" by Mary McLaughlin. Included are sheets and other things. I don´t know the other songs but surely there are some more very beautiful ones included. Take care mate and thank you for the music. Thanks for your help in finding a harp since Germans are not known as passionated harp players and it´s difficult to find a shop selling harps around here at all. Thanks a lot!!!

  • Seanathair, I received your message and have been trying to send you the words via YouTube messaging, but it isn't working. I keep getting a "500 server error." If you like, feel free to email me at nickel at cruzers dot com, and I can send it to you that way.
